Yimbila y Sona is the first mixtape by the MHDL Collective, released on 25th October 2021. The name of the mixtape was chosen by Tamara Rettino after researching the Kongo Yawa symbol referred to during class - 'The Four Moments of the Sun'.

She wrote this about it: 'I found this article on the Kongo Yawa (www.webarchaeology.com/html/kongocos.htm) that has an interesting take. I love the idea of SINGING the point, creating ritual space and manifestation through the voice. It reminds me of the line in Kate Bush's Line The Cross and the Curve..."You must sing back the symbols...and this curve is your smile, and this cross is your heart, and this line is your path." '

From the article:
"Drawing a "point", invoking God and the ancestors, formed only a part of this most important Kongo ritual of mediation. The ritual also included "singing the point". In fact, the Bakongo summarize the full context of mediation with the phrase "singing and drawing [a point]: yimbila y sona.
